Strong second half leads Hornets past Allen 44-42 in LVC opener

Senior Greg Bobal scored 12 of his game-high 15 points in the second half as Emmaus opened play in the Lehigh Valley Conference with a come-from-behind 44-42 win over Allen Friday at the Canaries Sewards Gymnasium.
The win, the first for the Hornets at Allen since 2006, improved Emmaus to 1-0 in the LVC and 2-1 overall. Allen fell to 0-1 and remained winless on the season (0-3) after suffering its third straight loss. The Canaries three losses have been by a combined eight points.
Bobal, who was just 1-for-6 from the field in the first half and held to just three points, scored six points each in both the third and fourth quarters as the Hornets outscored Allen 30-22 in the second half.
Senior Matt Wiseley recorded his third double-double of the season as he finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-foot-7 forward also had three blocks on the night. Senior Ryan Fatzinger added eight points while Gabe Shankweiler came off the bench and scored six.
Allen, which led at the half 20-14, was led by senior DJ Brown who scored 14 points. Senior Daniel Dorris added 10.
Emmaus returns to action next Tuesday at home when they face Dieruff.
